How we grade our cards

All cards are graded very conservatively. Cards on our price list will have one of the abbreviations listed below next to it. This signifies it’s grade or condition. There is not a grade next to the cards printed after 1979. Thats because they are MINT unless noted otherwise.

MINT = MT: Mint is a hard grade to define by Mint we mean a card that went straight from a pack into a protective sleeve or case, it won’t have any corner or centering imperfections, but it might not look Mint under a jeweler's loop or under high power magnification or it might not be a 10 in the eyes of a professional grading service like PSA or Beckett. I don’t want this to sound to complicated so consider a Mint card one that went staight from a pack into a protective sleeve or case and trust us that on newer cards we won’t offer it for sale if it has problems.

NM = Near Mint: A card that appears Mint at first glance but upon closer scrutiny will have micro imperfections. If these cards are from the 80’s or before they will typically look better than 90% of the cards in circulation. If they are from the 90’s, they will look better than 95% of the cards in circulation.

XM = Excellent-Mint: This is our most popular condition on pre-1970s singles. The card will have minor corner wear but not neccesarily on all 4 corners and very minor surface wear. The card looks great to the eye, but looks even better if stored in plastic sheets. This condition is signfied in trade publications as EX-MT, we shortened it to XM. If these cards are from the 70’s or before they will typically look better than 75% of the cards in circulation from that era. A XM card will not have any creases.

EX = Excellent: These cards will have slightly more wear than an XM card. If these cards are from the 70’s or before they will typically look better than 60% of the cards in circulation from that era. An EX card will not have any creases but may be slightly off center. EX singles will not be off center a lot, unless it has an 'OC' designation next to the condition.

VX = Very Good-Excellent. This condition is signified in trade publications as VG-EX, we shortened it to VX. This card has more than normal wear. In this case 65% of the cards in circulation will look better than this grade but this grade costs considerable less XM or NM cards. A VX card may have a crease.

VG = Very Good: These cards have excess wear and probably have creases but are usually priced 75-80% below NM cards

G = Good: A very worn card. A Rough card. The card will have creases and abnormal wear. The positive side of these cards is that we price them at 90-95% below high grade cards.

CR = Crease.

OC = Off center
